FAQs

What is nature-based occupational therapy?

Nature-based OT combines traditional pediatric occupational therapy with the regulating effects of outdoor play. We use natural environments to support children’s sensory, motor, emotional, and social development.

Who do you work with?

We work with children ages 3–10 who may benefit from support with regulation, coordination, focus, sensory processing, motor skills, social interaction, or confidence.

Do you offer 1:1 therapy or group sessions?

Currently, we offer small group nature-based sessions designed to foster peer connection and social learning through play. One-on-one OT services may be available upon request if your child is not ready for the group setting.

What should my child wear or bring?

Children should wear weather-appropriate clothing they can move freely in, closed-toe shoes, and bring a water bottle. We recommend a hat and sunscreen as needed. Be ready to get messy, nature play can be muddy, dirty, or wet! We recommend packing an extra change of clothes for the car ride home.

What if the weather is bad?

We believe there’s no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothing! However, in cases of extreme conditions (lightning, high winds, or dangerous heat), we will cancel or reschedule for safety. You’ll be notified by email or text.

Is this covered by insurance?

Currently, our nature-based group sessions are private pay. We can provide a superbill upon request for you to submit to your insurance provider, but coverage varies. This is so that we can offer services in line with the current research and how we see best benefit the child without payor limitations.
